Essays!

These are various essays that I've written over the course of my college career. I'll be putting the ones I think are strongest up here first, and then likely upload some earlier ones that I rework and make better. I am a cultural studies major, so lots of what I write about will cover topics of race, gender, sexuality, and various media. I also have a penchant for writing about conspiracy theories.

Cyborgs and the Self: How Modern Technology has Redefined Our World

This essay discusses the figure of the cyborg, how it has influenced modern conceptions of the self, and how it might be used as a liberatory figure in the face of capitalist system. I do talk quite a bit about metaphysics in it, which I know at least when I first learned about the idea of metaphysics it was a bit intimidating, but it really just means the study of the fundaments of reality. This means things like ontology (the philosophical study of being) and epistemology (the study of knowledge production and systems.)

The Dangers of Mainstream Conspiracy

This Essay discusses Graham Hancock's Netflix series Ancient Apocalypse, how it functions as a conspiracy theory, and the harm popular media like it can do by peddling misinformation.
